New Visions Digital Film Making Project

New Visions is committed to engaging and involving young women in the work of the Southern Rural Black Women's Initiative (SRBWI) and to teaching marketable skills in digital filmmaking, documentary shorts, oral history and advertising.  Through this program trained mentors in Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi offer guidance and instruction in digital film techniques and produce short films. more>>


Participation in the Economy and Land Issues

Strategic Objectives: Facilitate women’s access to capital, credit, resources, employment, workforce training, skills building for self employment, transportation, markets, and trade; Eliminate all forms of employment discrimination; Improve public housing, Increase availability of affordable and “alternative” housing and opportunities for home ownership; Increase access to land, land retention and ownership. 

Self Empowerment and Discrimination

Strategic Objectives: Raise women’s consciousness concerning their rights to be free and equal, and explore the subliminal and blatant denial of rights and issues inhibiting women’s full economic, social, political, and personal empowerment; Eliminate negative cultural attitudes and practices against and among women and girls.

Women in Power and Decision Making

Strategic Objectives: Ensure access to
and full participation in power structures and decision making; Increase women’s capacity to actualize economic and social justice by participating in decision-making and leadership; Integrate representative perspective in legislation, public policies,
and projects.

Community Wellness/Support Services

Strategic Objectives: Improve the quality of educational systems – from early childhood through higher education, and increase access to appropriate, affordable and quality education at all levels; Expand access to healthcare and related services; Develop program and services for youth and elderly and enhance mechanisms for integration and accountability from existing providers; Strengthen or establish mechanisms to abate the impact of development and environmental policies on women.

Arts, Culture, History and Communications
Strategic Objectives: Integrate arts and culture into all program areas; Promote preservation and evolution of Black culture and history, with a particular focus on youth; Increase the participation and access to expressing and decision making in and through media and new technologies and communication.
